Group Retiree Medical
This plan is designed to provide health care to employees 65 years
or older and will lower the employer’s overall group premiums.
Coverage is available to eligible retirees and/or their eligible
spouses. Premiums can be paid by the employer or the retiree, coverage
includes: prescription drugs, vision and a host of additional benefits.
The plan has three options:
- Basic coverage
- Coverage with extended Skill Nursing Facility
- Coverage with extended Skill Nursing Facility, Medical Expense,
Foreign Travel and Private Nursing

Legislative initiatives now provide a number of tax favored plans
for employers and their employees. Insurance carriers now offer
High Deductible Health Plans to be combined with Health Saving Accounts
(HSA) to achieve tax favored status. These plans can be offered
to employees as a group which ultimately reduces the employer’s
overall health care budget
Health Savings Accounts (HSA) for Employers
and Employees
This plan is a tax-favored account combined with High Deductible
Health Plan and allows employers to set aside funds to pay for qualified
medical expenses for employees and their covered family members.
Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA)
for Employers
Allows the employer to contribute funds for qualified medical expenses
such as; employer sponsored health plan deductibles. Each year the
employer can pledge a certain amount. Unused funds to a maximum
dollar amount, maybe carried over on an employee by employee basis,
added to the employee’s account, capped off or a combination
thereof, provided that all employees are funded and treated equally.
Section 125 Plans
Section 125 plans are tax favored accounts that reduce the overall
cost of providing and managing employer sponsored health care. Employers
can reduce Federal and State payroll taxes associated with (FICA,
FUTRA, SUI, and worker’ compensation premiums by the amount
set aside for qualified expenses.
Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for Employees
Employees who participant in this plan are able to off set medical
expenses that would normally be paid by after tax income. Depending
on the individual’s income, this benefit could provide substantial
savings. Employees should look back to previous years and decide
weather medical expense such as; health care provider deductibles,
co-pays, over the counter drugs and other expenses associated with
doctors are reoccurring. This information will allow you to plan
more effectively as the use it, or lose it, rule applies to this
plan.
POP – Premium Only Plan
Under Section 125, allows you to pay for health care premiums with
pre-tax salary dollars. Both the employer and their employees can
benefit by this tax favored plan. The employer’s federal,
state and worker’s compensation taxes are reduced by the amount
of the premium paid, which ultimately reduces payroll taxes. In
turn, the employee’s portion is also reduced.
Please note that all group applicants could be subject
to field underwriting by the representative and the insurance company.
Applicants with pre-existing conditions could be subject to additional
underwriting, rated premiums, exclusions, waiting periods and or
declined from coverage by the insurance carrier.
